Name: Luis Alexander Lopez
Date of birth: March 9, 1971
I was born, the first of four children, on March 9, 1971 in San Salvador, El Salvador. I was baptized at Saint Anthony Parish in the city of Soyapango. My parents are Luis and Maria Lopez.
When I was twenty seven years old, I went to the mountains of Morazán in the north of my country. There I worked in San José Jocoatique Parish helping others. While I was there, I felt the Lord call to me to serve God’s people. I responded: HERE I AM, I SEND ME.
Father Andres Argueta helped me discern a call to the priesthood. In 2005 I moved to Costa Rica where I studied philosophy. In 2007 I went to México and began my theology studies. After much prayer and seeking of advice I decided to apply to the Diocese of Oakland as a seminarian. I was accepted by Bishop Salvatore Cordileone in January 2010.
I want to be a Priest to share the love and mercy of God with the men and women by means of the Sacraments of the Church. Currently I am studying English in Monterey, CA.
